Kia Kaha Hawke's Bay

We are so proud to have been able to assist with this small part of the initial clean-up following Cyclone Gabrielle. The devastation witnessed by our teams was immense and our thoughts are with you all.

One of the more positive aspects to come from a natural disaster was the sense of community spirit and mahi tahi that really came to the fore. We received many messages from members of the community who saw the segment on Seven Sharp and were reaching out to try and help their friends and neighbours.

By Friday morning we had collected over 60 tonnes of food waste. This won’t be going to landfill but will be given a second life as renewable energy, biofertiliser and CO2. Some small good from an incredibly stressful event.

One of the Food waste collection points in action.

We understand that this will be a long process to build the Bay back to some sort of normal. While our residential collection points have now stopped, we are ready and willing to help with the food waste that will still be coming from the commercial and industrial sectors.
