Overview

Ecogas trialled our processes and systems at our pilot plant in Wiri. This a small scale anaerobic digestion system that can handle up to 60 kg per day, compared to the Reporoa Waste to Energy Facility which will be processing approx. 200 tonnes per day.

The pilot plant played a key roll in understanding how quickly we can add foodwaste and increase the amount and types of foodwaste being added.

As it is anaerobic digester, the pilot plant end products will be biogas and digestate. Trials are currently underway in Pukekohe to illustrate the effect that the digestate has on pasture growth. Alongside the digestate, we had control patches and various other test patches for common fertilisers and treatments.

Following each application, a growth time is allowed for and then the grass is mown and weighed. These tests will provide our clients with clear and easy to understand data.
